National Recoveries Manager

What you’ll love about the role:

As a key member of the Claims Operations leadership team, you will be play an important role in continuing and strengthening our exceptional, market-leading claims offering.  Your role will focus on providing strong leadership and strategic direction to ensure the operational effectiveness of the legal recoveries function. Reporting to the Head of Claims Operations, you will have two direct reports (Team Managers) and overall leadership responsibility for a team of 16. You will drive the team toward innovation, best practice and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Development and implementation of strategies to ensure that NTI has a sustainable competitive advantage through Recoveries activities
• Develop and monitor the performance and budget associated with the legal recovery’s portfolio in terms of arrears, provisions, write-offs, and recoveries
• Provide recommendations to management and oversight of external law firms
• Represent NTI at Industry forums where matters affecting Recoveries strategies and policy may be discussed
• Ensure that the Recoveries systems and processes are based and evaluated on (internal and external) customer-driven performance measures and allow effective and consistent performance of Recoveries
• Manage and oversee the Re-insurance recoveries responsibility for NTI
• Establish systematic audits and reviews to ensure that all NTI employees are complying with NTI Policies, Procedures and Standards in the handling of Recoveries matters
• Review the effectiveness of Recoveries controls and systems on a regular basis and recommend appropriate process improvements 
• Monthly reporting on outstanding debt, settlement savings, trends, and mitigation approaches

Are you the National Recoveries Manager we are looking for?

You will be an experienced Recoveries professional with a sound technical understanding of Recoveries approaches and processes. You will be a skilled negotiator, exceptional communicator and someone who doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations. Your extensive background working in the insurance industry will mean you have a commercial and strategic edge that will take the Recoveries function from strength to strength. You are resilient, assertive, innovative and have a passion for working hands-on with your team to see them succeed. In addition you will have:

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an operational recoveries role
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a people leadership role
• A tertiary qualification and/or ANZIIF qualification (highly regarded)
