NTI Ltd celebrates 30 year partnership with the Australian Trucking Association

NTI Ltd, Australia’s specialist transport and logistics insurer, this month celebrated the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) 30th anniversary and 30 years of partnership.

From humble beginnings in 1989, initially known as the Road Transport Industry Forum, the ATA has been built on a pillar of safety and continuously fights for better roads, better training and education, better technology and better investigations into incidents as well as better support for drivers and businesses.

“Since the ATA began, we’ve been a partner. The original pitch was to help improve the safety and professionalism of the Australian trucking industry, and we simply had to be part of it. Our organisations are both committed to the industry and this partnership remains integral to the transport community.

“This year we had the honour of being accepted as an Associate Member of the ATA further cementing our partnership for years to come.” said NTI’s General Manager of Commercial, Mike Edmonds.

On the 19th November, industry members gathered at a gala dinner to celebrate the anniversary and hard work of the association and its sponsors.

There, the ATA’s Chair, Geoff Crouch emphasised the importance of unity in the industry and thanked NTI, along with BP and Volvo, for their contributions and 30 years of ongoing support.

The 19th November also saw the launch of SafeT360 - the new Volvo ATA safety truck, sponsored by NTI. The initiative is focused on delivering heavy vehicle safety education to young drivers around the country in a bid to equip future drivers with the skills they need to stay safe on the road.

Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack was in attendance for the launch on behalf of federal government, who committed $400,000 to the make the SafeT360 project a reality.

NTI’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tony Clark took time to reflect on the milestone.

“Having been a founding partner with the ATA, they are part of our DNA. We’ve continued our support of the ATA without question for 30 years, all of its member associations and many other transport causes, injecting over $1m back into the industry each year.

“The important relationship between the ATA, its foundation sponsors, and the federal government means we can continue to nurture safety and growth in the trucking industry,” he said.
