NTI Marine Underwriter wins Next Gen Insurance Leader Award

NTI Marine Underwriter Vicky Zhang has been named as winner of the Young Insurance Professionals Next Gen Insurance Leader Award 2022.

Ms Zhang’s winning submission looked at striking the balance between using artificial (AI) and human intelligence to benefit insurance professionals, customers and broader industry.

On selecting her topic, Ms Zhang said it was her curiosity around how technology continues to shape the world, and quest for understanding AI’s benefits to insurance professionals, that drew her to the subject.

“We are experiencing a digital revolution. As a young insurance professional I need to understand the role of technology and the trajectory of AI in our industry,” she said.

“The Awards processes inspired me to expand my thinking, so that I can be more relatable to my customers, and begin to question how I can contribute in new ways.”

“AI is a powerful problem-solving tool. My research gave me greater insight into the channels of possibility for AI but also, where human intelligence is critical.”

NTI’s Chief Customer Officer, Janelle Greene said Ms Zhang’s win is indicative of NTI’s culture of thought diversity and the organisation’s market leading position.

“We are tremendously proud of Vicky, and the work she’s done to stand out as a thought leader amongst her peers. At NTI we know our people are our greatest asset – and it’s fantastic for Vicky to receive that acknowledgement externally.”

The annual YIPs Barry.Nilsson. Next Gen Insurance Leader Award recognises innovative thinking, leadership potential and business acumen, with the purpose of supporting career development of young insurance professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
